Setup centurylink.net Email on Outlook 2007



If you are using Outlook 2007, this page will show you how to set-up or edit settings for your email^ account.

^These settings work for the following domains: embarqmail.com, centurytel.net, cswnet.com, clds.net, coastalnow.net, cochill.net, emadisonriver.com, emadisonriver.net, gallatinriver.net, grics.net, gulftel.com, madisonriver.biz, mebtel.net

Setup Email on Outlook 2007

1. Select "Tools".



2. Select "Account Settings".



3. Select "New".



4. Select "Manually configure server settings or additional server types".



5. Select "Next".



6. Select "Internet E-mail".



7. Select "Next".



8. Enter the following:
  • 1. Your Name
  • 2. Your Email Address


9. Select "POP3".



10. Enter pop.centurylink.net for the "Incoming mail server".



11. Enter smtp.centurylink.net for the "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)".



12. Enter your Full Email Address for the "User Name".



13. Enter your "Password".



14. Select "More Settings".



15. Select the "Outgoing Server" tab. Verify the following is selected:
  • My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
  • Use same settings as my incoming mail server


16. Select the "Advanced" tab. Do the following:
  • 1. Enter 995 for the "Incoming server (POP3)"
  • 2. Check the box next to "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)"


17. Do the following:
  • 1. Enter 587 for the "Outgoing server (SMTP)"
  • 2. Select TLS for "Use the following type of encryption connection"
  • 3. Check the box next to "Leave a copy of messages on the server"
  • 4. Select "OK"


18. Select "Next".



19. Select "Finish".



20. Select "Close".

Edit Email Settings on Outlook 2007

1. Select "Tools".



2. Select "Account Settings".



3. Select the email address you want to edit.



4. Select "Change".



5. Verify you have the correct information:
  • 1. Your Name
  • 2. Your Email Address


6. Verify "POP3" is selected.



7. Verify pop.centurylink.net is entered for the "Incoming mail server".



8. Verify smtp.centurylink.net is entered for the "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)".



9. Verify your Full Email Address is entered for the "User Name".



10. Re-enter your "Password".



11. Select "More Settings".



12. Select the "Outgoing Server" tab. Verify the following is selected:
  • My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
  • Use same settings as my incoming mail server


13. Select the "Advanced" tab. Verify the following:
  • 1. Enter 995 for the "Incoming server (POP3)"
