Setup qwest.net Email on Outlook 2010



If you are using Outlook 2010, this page will show you how to set-up or edit settings for your email account.

Setup Email on Outlook 2010

1. Select "File".



2. Select "Account Settings".



3. Select "Account Settings", again.



4. Select "Account Settings", again.



5. Select "New".



6. Select "Manually configure server settings or additional server types".



7. Select "Next".



8. Select "Internet E-mail".



9. Select "Next".



10. Enter the following:
  • 1. Your Name
  • 2. Your Email Address


11. Select "POP3".



12. Enter pop.mpls.qwest.net for the "Incoming mail server".



13. Enter pop.mpls.qwest.net for the "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)".



14. Enter your User Name. If your email address is customer@qwest.net, username would be customer.
You can test your email address and password by signin into Webmail.



15. Enter your "Password".



16. Select "More Settings".



17. Select the "Outgoing Server" tab. Verify the following is selected:
  • My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
  • Use same settings as my incoming mail server


18. Select the "Advanced" tab. Verify 110 for the "Incoming server (POP3)".



19. Do the following:
  • 1. Enter 587 for the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)"
  • 2. Check the box next to "Leave a copy of messages on the server"
  • 3. Select "OK"


20. Select "Next".



21. Select "Finish".



22. Select "Close".

Edit Email Settings on Outlook 2010

1. Select "File".



2. Select "Account Settings".



3. Select "Account Settings", again.



4. Select the email address you want to edit.



5. Select "Change".



6. Verify you have the correct information:
  • 1. Your Name
  • 2. Your Email Address


7. Verify "POP3" is selected.



8. Verify pop.mpls.qwest.net is entered for the "Incoming mail server".



9. Verify pop.mpls.qwest.net is entered for the "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)".



10. Enter your User Name. If your email address is customer@qwest.net, username would be customer.
You can test your email address and password by signin into Webmail.



11. Re-enter your "Password".



12. Select "More Settings".



13. Select the "Outgoing Server" tab. Verify the following boxes are checked:
  • "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication"
  • "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"


14. Select the "Advanced" tab. Verify 110 for the "Incoming server (POP3)".



15. Verify the following:
  • 1. Enter 587 for the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)"
  • 2. Check the box next to "Leave a copy of messages on the server"
  • 3. Select "OK"


16. Select "Next".



17. Select "Close".



18. Select "Finish".
