Setup qwest.net email in Thunderbird.



If you are using Thunderbird, this page will show you how to set-up or edit settings for your email account.

Setup Email in Thunderbird

1. If your "Menu Bar" is already showing, skip this step. To get the "Menu Bar" to show, right click on the blue bar and select "Menu Bar".



2. Select the "File" > "New" > "Existing Mail Account".



3. Do the following:
  • Enter "Your name"
  • Enter your "Email address"
  • Enter your "Password"
  • Select "POP3"
  • Select "Done" to finish the set-up


4. You're done! If you get an error, proceed to the next step.





5. Enter the following for Incoming POP3:
  • Server Hostname: pop.mpls.qwest.net
  • Port: 110
  • SSL: Leave Blank


6. Enter the following for Outgoing SMTP:
  • Server Hostname: pop.mpls.qwest.net
  • Port: 587
  • SSL: Leave Blank


7. Do the following:
  • 1. If your email address is customer@qwest.net, the username would be customer
  • 2. Select "Re-test"


8. Select "Create Account".

Edit Email in Thunderbird

1. To edit your email settings, right click on your email address and select "Settings".



2. Select "Server Settings" and verify the following:
  • Server Name: pop.mpls.qwest.net
  • Port: 110
  • User Name: If your email address is customer@qwest.net, the username would be customer
  • Connection security: Leave blank


3. Select "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" > "pop.mpls.qwest.net" > "Edit".



4. Verify the following:
  • Server Name: pop.mpls.qwest.net
  • Port: 587
  • Connection security: Leave blank
  • User Name: If your email address is customer@qwest.net, the username would be customer
  • Select "OK"


5. Select the "OK".
