Setup Centurylink.net email on Windows Mail



If you are using Windows Mail, this page will show you how to set-up or edit settings for your email^ account.

^These settings work for the following domains: embarqmail.com, centurytel.net, cswnet.com, clds.net, coastalnow.net, cochill.net, emadisonriver.com, emadisonriver.net, gallatinriver.net, grics.net, gulftel.com, madisonriver.biz, mebtel.net

Setup Email on Windows Mail

1. To set-up your email account:
  • 1. Select "Tools"
  • 2. Select "Accounts"


2. Select "Add".



3. Do the following:
  • 1. Select "E-mail Account"
  • 2. Select "Next"


4. Do the following:
  • 1. Enter "Your Name"
  • 2. Select "Next"


5. Do the following:
  • 1. Enter "Your Email Address"
  • 2. Select "Next"


6. Select POP3 .



7. Enter pop.centurylink.net.



8. Do the following:
  • 1. Enter smtp.centurylink.net
  • 2. Select "Next"


9. Do the following:
  • 1. Enter "Full Email Address"
  • 2. Enter "Your Password"
  • 3. Select "Next"


10. Select "Finish".



11. Select "Close".

Edit Email Settings on Windows Mail

1. To edit your email account:
  • 1. Select "Tools"
  • 2. Select "Accounts"


2. Select the "email address" you want to edit. Select "Properties".



3. Select the servers tab and verify the:
  • Incoming mail (POP3): pop.centurylink.net
  • Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.centurylink.net
  • E-mail username: Full Email Address
  • Password: Re-enter Your Password
  • My server requires authentication: Checked Box
  • Select the "Settings" button


4. Do the following:
  • 1. Select "Use the same settings as my incoming mail server"
  • 2. Select "OK"


5. Select the "Advanced" tab. Enter 587 for "Outgoing mail (SMTP)".



6. Do the following:
  • 1. Enter 995 for "Incoming Mail (POP3)"
  • 2. Check the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)"
  • 3. Check the box next to "Leave a copy of messages on server"
  • 4. Select "OK"


7. Select "Close".
