1. Setup an EXEC password using Cisco Commander software.

To access the cisco using telnet, an EXEC password is required. If your Cisco has a EXEC password setup (and you know it) you can skip this step.
  • Setting up an EXEC password on a Windows computer
  • Setting up an EXEC password on a Macintosh computer
Windows XP users can download the DSL Updater software

2. Telnet to the Cisco.

Windows XP
  • 1. Click Start > Run > Type telnet 10.0.0.1 > Click OK, then go to step 2
Windows Vista and Windows 7

By default, Windows Vista and Windows 7 do not have Telnet clients installed. To install telnet:
  • 1. Click Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program > Turn Windows Features on or off (located on left nav), select telnet option > Click Start > then type telnet 10.0.0.1 in the search and hit enter.
  • 2. At the blinking cursor type in your EXEC password and press enter.
  • 3. When your screen displays cbos > you are ready to program your modem.
MAC OS 10 (OSX)
  • 1. Open Hard Drive from the Desktop > Applications > Utilities > select Terminal

3. Setup.

These instructions assume that you have 'setup an EXEC password' and can 'Telnet to the Cisco'. *NOTE: If you have an ISP other than what is listed above, please contact your ISP directly for support. If you are unsure how to contact your ISP, you can look them up using the Internet Service Provider List.
