Custom Local Area Signaling Services (CLASS) Continuous Re-dial Deluxe Enhancement Update 8/10/99

Summary: This disclosure announces U S WEST plans to deploy an enhanced Continuous Re-dial Deluxe (CRD) starting in December 1997. Continuous Re-dial Deluxe or Enhanced Busy Call Return (NORTEL terminology ) is a modification to the existing switch based CLASS * 66 Continuous Re-dial feature currently deployed in U S WEST. This CRD feature replaces the existing network switch busy tone the customer hears with a new continuous re-dial announcement containing a front end recorded busy, a continuous re-dial voice prompt, followed by more recorded busies.

Locations and Timing of Deployment: Please see the following schedule for the initial deployment of deploy Continuous Re-dial Deluxe (CRD). Updates to this disclosure will be provided as additional locations are identified.

Pricing: This interface is will continue to use the existing Continuous Re-dial tariff filed in all 14 U S WEST states.

Additional Information: U S WEST testing and evaluation of Continuous Re-dial Deluxe indicates that the feature's modification of the normal network busy tone interface potentially impacts those CPE devices which key on the busy tone for their functionality. These devices may include modems, fax machines, alarm/security systems, Point of Sale (POS) terminals, ADSI screen phones, telephones with auto re-dial and PBX key systems with auto re-dial features.
